At the EuroISME Annual Conference in Tallinn on 23 May 2024, Jean-Marc Vesco delivered a keynote speech titled “The European Defence Industry’s Response to Workforce Challenges and Generational Values.”He highlighted a major challenge for EU defence companies: attracting new talent. “Defence companies need to adhere to ethical and sustainability criteria to protect their reputation and enhance their ability to attract young talent and secure financial support,” he stated.
He further emphasized, “Our ability to protect Europe’s borders and uphold democratic values depends on the European defence ecosystem’s ability to inspire the younger generation to commit to a robust and deterrent European defence capability”.
